Let's Make Banana Cocoa Yogurt Pops:

Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt- WIC Approved Item
  • 1 medium banana- WIC Approved Item
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa powder
  • 1 ice cube tray (or paper cups)
  • Popsicle sticks (or cut paper straws)
Directions:
  1. Start by mashing the banana with a fork. Smoosh the banana until it becomes smooth and mushy. This is a fun activity that young kids can help with!
  2. In a bowl, mix the mashed banana and low-fat vanilla yogurt together. Stir well to ensure that the banana and yogurt are fully combined. This creates a creamy base for our frozen treats.
  3. Add the cocoa powder to the banana-yogurt mixture. The cocoa powder adds a delightful hint of chocolate flavor. Stir again to incorporate the cocoa powder evenly throughout the mixture.
  4. Next, divide the mixture into 4 small paper cups or 8 mini muffin cups. These will serve as molds for our popsicles. If using paper cups, you can place popsicle sticks in the center. If using mini muffin cups, you can use cut paper straws as handles.
  5. Place the filled cups or muffin cups in the freezer. Allow them to freeze completely. This usually takes around 4-6 hours, but it's best to leave them overnight to ensure they are fully frozen.
  6. Once the popsicles are frozen, remove them from the freezer. Gently tear off the paper cups or pop out the popsicles from the muffin cups. If using ice cube trays, you can simply pop them out.
  7. Now, it's time to enjoy your homemade Banana Cocoa Yogurt Pops! Take a bite and savor the creamy, cool goodness. They make a perfect frozen treat to beat the summer heat.
